The Bishop Cotton Girls’ School’s 158th Junior School Sports Day, held on 6th November, was a vibrant celebration of energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship, under the able leadership of the Principal, Mrs. Christy Priyadarshini F. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Major Radhika Sen, Assistant Adjutant, ASC Centre (North), an accomplished officer who has served in some of the most challenging operational environments, including counter insurgency and high-altitude areas in Jammu and Kashmir, North Sikkim, Leh, and Ladakh.
Major Sen, who represented India and the United Nations as the Female Engagement Team Commander in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was recently honoured with the UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award 2023.
The morning began with an impressive march past, where the students displayed discipline and coordination. This was followed by the torch relay, a symbolic moment representing the spirit of unity and excellence. The oath-taking ceremony, led by the Games Captain, inspired all participants to uphold integrity, fairness, and true sportsmanship throughout the day’s events. The mass drills by Classes I and II, and another by Classes III and IV, added rhythm and colour to the celebration. A highlight of the event was the novelty races by the youngest students, whose excitement filled the field with cheer.
The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony that was filled with applause and pride, celebrating not just victory but the spirit of participation, perseverance, and Cottonian camaraderie.
