A Day of Medals, Cheers, and Triumphs
The Annual Sports Meet is a celebration of individual and team spirit, where every race and every moment teach us to be diligent and competitive while displaying physical effort and skill. Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, Bangalore, zealously hosted the 158th Junior and Senior School Annual Athletic Sports Meet on Thursday, 6th November, and Friday, 7th November, 2025, respectively, under the able leadership of Mrs. Christy Priyadarshini F.
The Junior School Sports Meet was graced by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Major Radhika Sen, Assistant Adjutant, ASC Centre (North), who took the general salute of the impressive March Past and declared the Sports Meet open. The mass drills presented by Classes I and II, and the other by III and IV, added rhythm and colour to the celebration. The highlight of the day’s events was the novelty races, which filled the field with cheers and fervour.
The Chief Guest for the Senior School Sports Meet, Lt. Col. Seema Nain, MTO, CMP Centre and School, in her inspiring address, encouraged the participants to set smaller goals to achieve bigger goals and lead the country to greater success on the global platform.
The day commenced with the ceremonial Opening March Past, led by the School Captain of Games, Meenakshi Menon; School Captain, Anoushka De; School Vice-Captain, Sanvi S Malteesh; and Head of Day Scholars, Aarini Sarah Joel. They were followed by Elmes House, the champions of 2024-2025, leading the parade of the other Houses, along with contingents of the Girl Guides, National Cadet Corps, and the School Band.
The Principal, Mrs. Christy Priyadarshini F., along with Members of the Board of Managementand the Vice-Principal, welcomed the Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Seema Nain, who formally declared the Sports Meet open. The programme continued with a range of inter-house track events, relay races (both inter-house and inter-school), and drills. Students from Classes V to XII participated with great enthusiasm, demonstrating true sportsmanship and team spirit. A fun yet competitive highlight of the day was the tug-of-war between Barton and Foley Houses. The visitors and old Cottonians were also engaged in light-hearted activities such as a game and a running race, respectively, which they took part in with zeal and excitement.
The school took pride in recognising the achievements of the girls who had excelled at the State and National Levels in various disciplines such as Athletics, Swimming, Boxing, Taekwondo, Archery, Shooting, Karate, Basketball, and Hockey. They were honoured with awards for their outstanding performance.
The most awaited and memorable part of both days was the Prize Distribution Ceremony. The Senior School Overall Champion House Trophy was bagged once again by Elmes House, which secured the highest points through stellar performances across multiple events. K. G. Prakalya was declared the Fastest Girl and Best All-rounder of the Year, while Glory Vincy was honoured as the Most Sporting Girl of the Year.
The students carried home fond memories of their athletic achievements and a reneweddetermination to participate in more such vibrant and spirited events in the future. The two Sports Meets concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
