The Investiture Ceremony for the newly appointed Senior Prefects of Bishop Cotton Girls’ School was held on 18th June 2025 in the school auditorium. This proud and significant occasion marked the official delegation of responsibilities to the student leaders, who will serve as role models and representatives of the student body throughout the academic year.
The ceremony commenced with a dignified procession led by the Principal, Dr. Lavanya Mithran; the Chief Guest, Major General Surender Pavamani, SM (The Regiment of Artillery); members of the Prefect Body; and the House Mistresses. The School Song and the Founder’s Hymn, “We Build Our School on Thee, O Lord,” set a reverent and solemn tone for the morning.
The opening prayer was led by Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinodkumar, Secretary of the CSI Karnataka Central Diocese and Vice Chairman of the Board of Management, followed by a scripture reading by Aarini Sarah Joel, Head of Day Scholars.
Dr. Lavanya Mithran welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest, who shared stirring reflections from his military journey. Major General Surender Pavamani urged the students to lead with courage, commitment, and above all, perseverance, reminding them of the meaningful opportunities that lie ahead.
The ceremony was also graced by Dr. Abraham Ebenezer, Convener of the Education Committee – Karnataka Central Diocese, whose presence added to the dignity of the occasion.
The presentation of badges to the newly elected prefects was the highlight of the event, followed by the ceremonial handing over of the School Banner and the recitation of the School Pledge. The atmosphere was further uplifted by the school choir, who rendered heartfelt performances of “Goodness of God” and “Holy Forever.”
The newly appointed School Captain, Anoushka De, delivered an inspiring speech on the values of leadership and the transformative power of education. The Vote of Thanks was eloquently proposed by Saanvi Maltesh, Vice Captain, whose words reflected the spirit of gratitude and hope.
The ceremony concluded with the closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Christy Gnanadasan, followed by the National Anthem. As the captains proudly exited with their house flags held high, the auditorium resonated with applause—marking a celebration of youth, leadership, and the promise of a bright journey ahead.
