The 79th Independence Day Celebrations

Bishop Cotton Girls’ School proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinodkumar, Bishop, KCD, who delivered an inspiring message that urged the students to uphold the values of unity, courage and service.

A vibrant cultural programme followed, presented by the Senior School. It began with a graceful invocation dance performed by the ISC students, setting a reverent tone for the day. This was followed by a powerful speech delivered by Arpita Grace Prashanth, who eloquently highlighted the significance of national unity in achieving independence. The boarders then performed a lively patriotic dance that captured the spirit of the nation. Adding to the splendour, a series of folk dances representing different states showcased India’s diverse traditions, while a thought provoking skit on women in defence, inspired by Operation Sindoor, paid tribute to the strength and sacrifice of Indian women who have courageously served the nation.

The programme concluded with the entire gathering rising in unison to sing the National Anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” echoing a sense of deep pride and patriotism across the campus. The celebration was a poignant reminder that independence is not only a historic achievement but also an enduring responsibility to preserve the ideals of freedom and sacrifice.
