Graduation, a day celebrated with great pomp is an exuberant event held at Cottons. A day which reminds the graduating batch that every ending has a new beginning as they embark into another phase of their life. This ceremonious event was held on the 24th January, 2025 at the pleasant ambience of the Bishop Cotton Girls’ School entitled with the theme “Learn Grow Succeed”. The ceremony commenced with the solemn procession of graduating students followed by the school song.
The students of std X & XII rendered the invocation song followed by the opening prayer by the Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar – Diocesan Secretary, CSI Karnataka Central Diocese, Vice Chairman Board of Management and Presbyter-in-Charge, St. Mark’s Cathedral. Our Principal Dr. Mrs Lavanya Mithran delivered the welcome address and introduced the Chief Guest. The programme witnessed the speeches delivered by the Captain of the School and the parents respectively. The event saw ceremonial laying down of office by the Student Council Body. The graduating choir students of std X & XII captured the audience with their resplendent rendition.
As a matter of pride the school has been a recipient of the following awards:
a. Bishop Cotton Girls School is Ranked No.1 in India, No.1 in Karnataka and No.1 in Bengaluruunder the Category – Top 5 Girls Day- Cum-Boarding Schools in a survey conducted by Education Today for the last 9 years.
b. Bishop Cotton Girls School for India’s Top Prestigious School Jury Awards 2024 under the Category “Promising Academics” by Education Today.
c. The Education News Network Channel [ENN] has recognized our Exceptional contribution to Education and Selected Bishop Cotton Girls School as one of the Dynamic Schools in the Country.
d. Education World India School Rankings 2024 has ranked Bishop Cotton Girls School under the category Vintage Legacy Girls Schools as follows: India # 6 (last year # 7), Karnataka # 1and Bengaluru # 1
e. The NCC Raising Day was held on the 8th November, 2024. Lt. Col. Vinay Ahluwalia, Commanding Officer awarded Bishop Cotton Girls School as # 1 Karnataka Girls Battalion.
This function, being the most important of our school’s eventful calendar, was graced by the presence of his Excellency Mr. Priyanka Kharge Honourable Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka who in his Valedictory address embellished that ,
‘Failure’ should be our teacher and not the Undertaker. It is a temporary detour and not the dead end. The only way to stop failure is to develop the ability to never stop learning.
To thrive in this fast changing world one should remain curious , adaptable and open to learning and relearning. Don’t just chase success but chase significance. Build bridges and not walls, share knowledge and amplify kindness and leave the world better than they found it. The Rt. Rev. Martin C Borgai, Bishop-in-charge, CSI, Karnataka Central Diocese, Chairman Board of Management, in his presidential remarks proffered that the school has laid the foundation by training, equipping and releasing the students towards excellence as they are called to be history makers.
Among the guests of honour were Mr. Rahim Khan, Minister of Muncipal Administration and Haj, Government of Karnataka and Shri N A Haris, MLA Shantinagar Constituency, Chairman Bangalore Development Authority. Shri N A Haris addressed the graduating students said that they need to build their character to build a better society. He encouraged the students to grow in confidence to win over the humanity. He advised the students to make a difference. He appreciated the school for serving humanity. Members of the Board of Management, Members of the Executive Committee, Members of the Education Committee, Present and former Principals of the KCD institutions,
Retired staff and Alumni of BCGS other dignitaries and invitees were among the line of honourable guests present that evening. The event witnessed an assembly of proud families and well wishers who gathered in the evening to watch their young girls rise to supreme significance.
